Two of EMC’s recently completed projects have received Outstanding Mechanical Installation (OMI) Awards, a competitive award that recognizes exceptional piping installation.
The award honors the quality, workmanship and high skill level of the pipe fitters on those projects.
The Unit 54 Labor & Delivery Unit remodel was one of the projects honored. As part of the major renovation efforts at the University of Kansas Medical Center, this project, which updated all MEP components and architecture, involved the complete renovation of the hospital wing housing the Labor and Delivery Unit.
This major hospital renovation was completed in 4 separate phases due to the 24/7 operation of the hospital and an additional challenge was that 2 C-section rooms were kept operative throughout the renovation.
The Consolidated Communications Facility, a new 2-story, 37,750 square foot building at Whiteman Air Force Base, also received an OMI Award.
The awards were announced by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Greater Kansas City and will be presented at the MCA-OMI award ceremony in July 2011.
The biennial, competitive award recognizes outstanding piping installation. Entries are submitted in three categories –HVAC, process piping and refrigeration – and are judged on complexity of work, performance, quality of the installation and safety.
