- In October 2009 EMC began work on this fast-paced, high-profile project which consists of a new building for the School of Pharmacy at the KU Lawrence campus
- The new 3-story, 110,000 square foot facility will include classrooms, research laboratory space, data rooms, a complete kitchen and office space
- This project has an energy goal of ASHRAE +30%, an aggressive standard set by the University of Kansas.
- Environmental Mechanical’s scope for this project covers HVAC & plumbing. Work includes tie-on’s to existing chilled water and steam, installation of a steam reducing station with heat exhanger for hot water heating. Custom built-up AHUs and energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) are being installed, which will reduce energy consumption and provide pre-conditioned fresh air
- Indoor air quality and infection control measures include duct capping during fabrication, storage delivery and installment, filters/filter maintenanceand AHU vacuum
- Larry Stevens, Senior Project Manager, is heading up the project for Environmental Mechanical, which is expected to be completed in June 2010
- The project is being coordinated with BIM 3D Building Information Modeling technology
