Kansas City-Based Environmental Mechanical Goes Green
Gene Darby, Sheet Metal Operations Manager of Environmental Mechanical Contractors, Inc. has received accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) professional. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work and the LEED Professional Accreditation recognizes Gene’s completion of a rigorous curriculum of study in energy efficient design and environmental quality. LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. The company has successfully completed more than 1,000,000 square feet of LEED Silver construction and is working to further expand its role and expertise in energy efficiency and green construction. Gene, who has 20 years experience with EMC, is responsible for coordinating all aspects of sheet metal work from shop drawings and fabrication through installation. As a Project Manager, Gene has overseen the HVAC installations on several LEED certified projects.
